THE YARRA VALLEY 
Having grow up in Eltham, the Yarra River has always been close by. From my childhood riding the bike tracks it is a landscape that is very familiar and comforting for me.
Most people associate the Yarra River with the dirty, murky mess that runs through the city of Melbourne and out into Port Phillip Bay. They are often surprised that the river in my images is the Yarra. You don't have to travel far from the city to get a sense of the real, natural beauty that the Yarra represents. It is surrounded by gorgeous parklands and creates a green wedge that runs through the metropolitan area.</description>

THAILAND SEASCAPES 
Thailand's seascapes feature pristine white sandy beaches and soaring limestone cliffs that plunge into the beautiful clear water. At leasts that's what I saw.
There is a pretty big contrast in the quality of the beaches and seascapes in Thailand. Some have maintained their natural beauty while others have been overrun with tourists and become dirty and uninspiring, strewn  with cigarette butts and empty beer bottles.

I visited Thailand in 2009 on my honeymoon, so it wasn't really a photography trip, but I did manage to capture a few shots of some of the spectacular light that some of the islands are afforded. We managed for the most part to steer clear of the main tourist locations. Even on Phi Phi Island, one of the most popular destinations, we found a quite resort only accessible by boat, which showed off the natural beauty of the area. We felt a long way from the run down slums and parties of the main village. While passing through it was very sad to see the condition of some of the natural environment.</description>

SYDNEY 
In 2007/08 I spent 9 months working in Sydney. During this time I spent almost every spare minute I had photographing this amazing city. From the famous harbour to the stunning northern beaches, Sydney really is a photographers paradise.
Most people from Melbourne will tell you Sydney is the pits, and vice versa. The two cities are certainly very different, and while I prefer living in Melbourne, I can see why people love Sydney. It is a beautiful city. There aren't many more spectacular sights in Australia than watching the harbour glowing at dusk.

This collection is somewhat of a mish mash. At the time I was still very much finding my feet with photography (and still am now). As the weeks and months rolled by I would change my style, from black and white street photography, to landscapes, to portraits. It was here that I discovered my passion for the natural environment and landscape photography and have not looked back since.</description>

THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD 
Probably Victoria's most famous and popular tourist attraction, the Great Ocean Road runs 243km from Torquay to Warrnambool, but most famously passes by the Twelve Apostles rock formation.
Having only visited Port Campbell as a child, I decided to head down and find out what all the fuss was about. Though completely overrun with tourists, camper vans and tour buses, the Great Ocean Road offers some of Victoria's, if not Australia's, most dramatic landscapes. The limestone cliffs have eroded over thousands of years to leave behind towering sea stacks, constantly battered by the harsh conditions of the Southern Ocean.

After spending some time down there it is not difficult to see how the landscape has formed. Even in the middle of summer, it was cold, windy, raining with constant changes in the weather. There is little to no shelter along this road, everything is open to the elements and I spent a lot of time hiding under whatever small bush that would keep me dry while I tried to outlast the conditions.

Sadly, the weather never really cleared and I did not get the shots I had hoped for, but I will return again and hopefully get more of a reward for my effort.</description>

NEW ZEALAND 
New Zealand is a photographers heaven. This tiny country is home to some of the world's most spectacular and unique landscapes.
I have made two trips to New Zealand, both times to visit the South Island. The difference between the Australian and New Zealand landscapes always amazes me. Soaring snow-capped mountains, immense aqua lakes, rolling green hills and wild coastlines are all densely placed into two small islands.

The landscape literarily changes around every turn. Driving for a few short hours will take you through a huge variety of inspiring scenery. With so much of the South Island being designated as national park, everything seems to be truly pristine. The hand of man has had very little influence on the environment. There are cities, but they are small and quaint. They are beautiful in there own right. but it is the natural attractions that truly inspire.</description>

MELBOURNE SKYLINES 
Melbourne may not have the unmistakeable icons of Sydney Harbour, but the different features that make up the city skyline are truly unique and inspiring photographic subjects.
I first learned to use a digital SLR 5 years ago photographing Melbourne cityscapes. I loved being out in the evening, watching the lights reflect in the Yarra and Port Phillip Bay. While my trips to the city to photograph such subjects have become less frequent, it was this experience that gave me the inspiration to continue shooting landscapes.

This collection features some of Melbourne's most famous icons. Flinders Street Station, the St Kilda pier and kiosk, and the Brighton Bathing Boxes have all been photographed to death by tourists, amateurs and professionals. I have not shied away from these locations, rather, I've tried to capture them in a way which is perhaps a bit different and is hopefully a slightly fresher approach to the usual postcard views.

THE HIGH COUNTRY 
Victoria's alpine regions are different to any other part of Australia. While the country is famous for it's dry red landscapes found in the North, the high country is home to snow capped peaks, dense rain forests and historic deciduous trees from early European settlement.
I have visited the high country many times over the last few years. It is a fantastic place to photograph with a vast range of subject matter. In autumn, the valleys are flooded with colours. The deciduous trees have become so famous they now have a two week festival in the town of Bright to celebrate.

Winter brings snow to the highest peaks, as well as the amazing granite plateau that is Mount Buffalo. A large national park, this mountain is home to a diverse range of wildlife and landscapes. From the lush forests at the foothills to the huge granite boulders that sit at the summit, there is something to favour all conditions.

This series concentrates primarily  on Mount Buffalo, and the Ovens and Buckland valleys.</description>

DANDENONG RANGES 
The Dandenongs are a small mountain range about an hour's drive east of Melbourne. The range is home to towering mountain ash gums, lush ferns and beautiful parks and gardens.
These hills have long been a favourite photographic destination of mine. The peaks are constantly shrouded by low clouds which can last all day, creating an eerie, magical atmosphere. The area is a combination of national park, pristine manicured gardens and old country style scenery. It doesn't change much up there, most of the houses are old and the majority of the ranges protected from construction.

In autumn the numerous deciduous trees change colour, with red, orange and yellow leaves around every turn. In winter it has been known to snow, but I remain unsuccessful in capturing these icy conditions (though not for lack of trying). I have spent many mornings travelling up the winding roads to the small towns that sit at the top, shooting scenery that is not overly recognisable, but in my opinion still unique to the Dandenong Ranges.</description>

KATOOMBA STORM 
During a holiday in Katoomba in 2008 I was lucky enough to be treated to an amazing show of light over the Blue Mountains National Park.
I am not an expert photographer by any means, but I like to think these days I sort of know what I'm doing. At the time I was really just learning the basics of shooting landscapes. I was unfamiliar with bracketing, did very little post processing to my shots and was pretty inexperienced with Photoshop. Needless to say if I has the same opportunity again I would do things slightly differently.

The first two days of the trip saw very hot conditions with clear blue skies. Not a cloud in sight. The third day started much the same way, but as the sun began to lower some clouds started to form on the horizon. I has spent the previous two night shooting the classic lookout at Echo Point, famous for the Three Sisters rock formation. I decided to have one last go and hope for sort of interesting sky.

As the sun began to set a large thunderstorm rolled in and made for some of the most dramatic scenery I have ever seen. As I mentioned earlier, I was not particularly experienced with this (or any) sort of photography, so I proceeded to madly dash back and forth, not knowing which angle to shoot or how to capture the range of light on display. I have gone back numerous times and processed these photos. While I'm frustrated I didn't do a better job of capturing the scene, I am happy to have been there to witness it and at least record some images that I am happy with.</description>

MELBOURNE STREET 
Exploring Melbourne's alleys and lane ways can unlock a trove of secrets that may otherwise go unnoticed while showing a side to the CBD that is truly unique to this captivating city.
During the day they are often overrun with shoppers, diners and business people ducking out for a quick bite or grabbing a coffee as they rush from one place to the next. At night however, the city seems to slow down. The crowds disperse, hidden restaurants open their doors and the true romance of Melbourne's culture begins to show. On rainy nights, the cobbles glisten under the street lights and I head out with my little Fuji strapped around my neck to capture these moments that might otherwise go unseen.

This series has been shot with a Fujifilm X100 camera. The small body, fast lens and excellent low light performance allow me to record these fleeting moments in the shadows of night without becoming intrusive and unsettling the mood that I set out to capture.</description>
